Your task is to write your own narrative poem. To do so, you can start from scratch or you can take an existing narrative poem (I have attached a link to a site with many poems but there are many, many others) and use it as an inspiration for your own. If you choose to base your work on one that is already existing, make sure that you do not use much of the original poem’s language; it needs to be your work. Your poem should be at least 20 lines long.


When you think about your narrative, keep the story fairly simple. Limit the number of your characters (2 to 4 should work). Keep the central problem very straightforward and tight and don't present too many complications over the course of the narrative arc. That said, there should still be some sense of tension in the story. As for the resolution, there should be a clear answer to the central problem at the end, though it does not have to have a 'happy' ending.
