•    Your research proposalwill be based on one of the *research scenarios* provided below.

-    Scenario 1: Settings and facilities around the environment we live in (schools, workplaces or homes) can affect uptake of health screening services and/or healthy behaviour, and our health. Propose a study to investigate the relationship between the exposure factor (setting or facility of your choice) and outcome factor(s) (such as uptake of health screening services and/or healthy behaviour, specific physical or mental or sexual health status of your choice) in a target population of your interest.

-    Scenario 2: There are some contradictory findings about the impact of mindfulness programs on physical and mental health.  Design a study to investigate either (i) the impact of specific type(s) of mindfulness programs on a specific health outcome of your choice, OR (ii) the long term effect of being mindful on specific health interest among a target population of your choice.
•    Do note that the scenarios above provide a general guide for your assignments. You do not have to investigate all the factors mentioned in the general scenarios. You can also pursue your own research topicthat has not been investigated.
•    You will choose one (1) research scenario from above (or your own niche topic) and find peer-reviewed literature around the chosen research scenario using the key variables of your interests as keywords.

•    You will then critique the literature around the chosen research scenario (Critique will be covered in Tutorials 1-4). Through this critique, you will reveal “gap of knowledge”(niche area that warrants further investigation to confirm preliminary findings) that your research can seek answer for.

•    You will formulate an original (i.e. not using secondary data) quantitative research question based on the gap that you revealed from your critique exercise. Your task is to develop a quantitative research proposal suitable at postgraduate level to enable scientific investigation around that niche research question.

•    You will use the *template*to complete your research proposal.

•    You will refer to the *marking rubric* to ensure you understand the marking criteria.
•    You need to save your full research proposal assignment as a word document in the following format:SURNAME_StudentID_RP.docx. For example, John Smith will save his full research proposal assignment as SMITH_12345678_RP.docx and submit the word document to Blackboard, and to Turnitin for plagiarism detection.Submission in pdf or other format will NOT be marked.

•    The full proposal assignment must be received by Monday 5th Juneat 9am AWSTvia BOTH Blackboard and Turnitin.

•    The assignment will not be accepted or marked without submission to Turnitinand the Declaration statement below. You may insert your electronic signature or just type your name at the space provided.
