as you can. Develop a plan for narrowing your topic and building out the worksheet. Your plan should include the following:

• the resources you will use to develop a focused topic


• the people who will help you stay motivated


• the coursework you plan to take and how those classes will contribute to your doctoral research

Submit your plan as a page within the worksheet. Use the worksheet and plan to ask questions of your instructor. This is a great opportunity to get robust feedback while the excitement of the In-Residence Workshop is still fresh.

Study Planning Worksheet In-Res 1 This worksheet helps you to begin developing the story of your problem of practice and your future study. Simply put, a problem statement addresses “something that is going wrong” (Ellis & Levy, 2008, p.28) and serves as the center for your study. 1. Complete the following prompts by giving the shortest answer that will fully explain what is required in each section. 2. Every part of the study must be in alignment with all other parts. Part 1: General Problem Description Keep your responses focused and succinct yet address all important aspects of your problem. The general problem is… Describe the specific target population who is impacted by this problem? (keep this narrow and specific. Include: · Environment · Age range (adult vs. children, grade level, etc.) · Important characteristics, etc. Describe the environment or setting that this problem resides in. How is your target population impacted by this problem? Describe at least three negative consequences of this problem on this population. Describe an area of research that could help inform your understanding of your target population? Describe an area of research that could help inform your understanding of the general problem. Describe another area of research that could help inform your understanding of the general problem.
