Your assignment is to write a 7-9 page essay (double-spaced) in response to the following statement. You can agree or disagree with the statement. Either way, you have to make an argument. Introduction
The liberty of freedom is t
he basic right that everyone should have. There is no denial of the fact that everyone is looking for some sense of respect and recognition in every sphere of life and they also need the freedom of expressing their views. There should be no disagreement on the fact that everyone must have the basic right for expression. The project report is all about the fact that is directly associated with the various aspects, through which a person express themselves, however protecting the basic boundaries while not hurting others in the process of enjoying their liberties.
Struggle between Liberty and Authority
The struggle between the liberty and authority is the phenomenon that is there from those ancient times and that can be dated back to the period of the Greek time. However, the liberty and the authority concept are between the subjects of some class and the government. As suggested by John Stuart Mill’s, Chapter 1 that the by liberty it was meant protecting against the tyranny of the political ruler. In the previous times the rulers used to think that ruling the subjects is their right and the treatment that they used to do with their subjects that is carried forward from the generations as inheritance.
The treatment that the rulers used to do with their subjects is equivalent to the treatment that they do with the extreme enemies. The rulers used to do this kind of treatments because they think that this will limit the power of their subjects and that they considered as the liberty of the community. However this practice what they did was strongly against the view of liberty as this is the direct violation of the basic rights of healthy living of a person. However, the thought process of the peoples or communities is there during that period because the mind set was there during that period that it is the right of the ruler to impose strict rules over the subjects and they used to think that they are the peasants of the rulers.
They used to respect or consider the ruler equivalent to god and everybody has to follow what the ruler has ordered. In the respect of the current living scenario, it is considered to be completely snatching away the basic rights and the liberty of the people. A societal norm works based on a leader who will look after that everything runs smoothly and is in proper order. They must ensure that everyone are getting their right of living, freedom of expression and the basic rights should be provided. All the basic necessities of the people must be fulfilled from the work that the government need to do.
The thought process of the ancient time was somewhat different as the ruler used to think that they are feeding and providing shelters to their subjects and therefore it is their right to behave whatever may be possible with the subjects. The subjects or the people also used to think...
