You overhear a fellow student say to another colleague, “I just pretended to treat her. She was sleeping and will never know the difference. It’s such a drag to treat someone who is so out of it.” This student has cheated a patient out of her treatment. Is this different from cheating on a classroom test? Is so, why is it? If you observed a classmate cheating, should your response to it be different than if you learned that a patient was not treated? In each case, what should you do?
