You MUST complete all of the diet analysis worksheets before proceeding with this essay. (MyPlate, Carbohydrates, Lipids, Proteins, Vitamins, and Minerals.). I will not accept this essay if you have not completed all six worksheets. Then write a 4-page paper (double spaced, 12-point font) answering the following questions. As you write this paper you are expected to demonstrate understanding of nutrition principles as they apply to Dwight’s personal profile, lifestyle, and dietary practices. In your essay you must address the following questions. In formulating your answers to these questions refer to: MyPlate report Intake Compared with DRI report Worksheet questions such as sources of carbohydrate in Dwight’s diet, amount and sources of fiber, protein sources, sources of lipids, vitamin and mineral intake compared to his DRI for vitamins and minerals. 3-day Food Journal for Dwight Questions • How would you rate the overall quality of Dwight’s diet? Be specific. An answer of “good” or “poor” is not sufficient. Write specifically what components of Dwight’s dietary practices influenced your evaluation of his diet. Include data from his iProfile reports to support your rating of Dwight’s diet. • Do you think consumption of enriched foods could have had an impact on Dwight’s intake of thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folate, and iron? In other words, did he meet his DRI for thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, and iron primarily because he consumed enriched foods, especially grains? How could Dwight consume adequate amounts of thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, and iron without relying on enriched foods? • List 5 dietary goals that would improve Dwight’s diet and 3 steps he could take to achieve each of these five dietary goals. (Note: Exercise is not a dietary goal.) You should refer to the Intake Compared to DRI report (especially fiber, sugar, vitamins, and minerals), the MyPlate report and the worksheets you completed previously. For example, Dwight’s MyPlate reports indicates his intake of fruits is low so one of his dietary goals could be to increase his intake of fruits. Then state three steps he could take to increase his intake of fruits • For each goal list specifically how achieving this goal would improve Dwight’s nutrient intake. EXAMPLE (Do not copy this example as one of your five goals.) Goal #1: Dwight should increase his intake of fruit. 1. He could purchase fruits such as apples, pears and oranges which last longer than some other fruits. 2. He could carry two pieces of fruit with him when he leaves the house for work or for school. 3. He could eat a serving of fruit such as berries with breakfast and one serving of fruit with dinner. This would improve Dwight’s intake of fiber, potassium, beta carotene, vitamin C, and folate. • What health problems do you think Dwight will experience in the future if he continues choosing foods similar to the foods he ate during these three days? Why do you think he could face these health problems? • Do you see any similarities between Dwight’s diet and your diet? Examples might be eating fast food too often and not preparing food at home. If so what steps could you take to improve the nutritional quality of your diet? If you do not see similarities between your diet and Dwight’s diet, which of your current dietary practices positively contribute to the nutritional quality of your diet? • Has this course influenced your dietary practices? If so, how has this course influenced your personal dietary practices? You will submit this assignment through the Assignment Submission box under learning module with the instructions for this assignment.

Title: Diet Analysis Worksheets
In your essay, you must address the following questions. In formulating your answers to these questions, refer to MyPlate report Intake Compared with DRI report Worksheet questions such as sources of
carbohydrate in Dwight’s diet, amount and sources of fiber, protein sources and sources of lipids, vitamin and mineral intake compared to his DRI for vitamins and minerals. 3-day Food Journal for Dwight Questions
How would you rate the overall quality of Dwight’s diet? Be specific. An answer of “good” or “poor” is not sufficient. Write specifically what components of Dwight’s dietary practices influenced your evaluation of his diet. Include data from his iProfile reports to support your rating of Dwight’s diet.
The overall quality of Dwight’s diet is not good and need to be improved. It also indicates towards unhealthy eating habits, which has caused deficiency of nutrients in his diet. There is a need to increase the fiber intake in the form of fruits and vegetables, which will help to reduce the intake of carbs, fats and proteins. The main idea behind is to feel fuller for the longer span of time. The in between cravings to have junk food is an example of impulsive eating and lead to increased level of nutrients which are again not good for health if prolonged intake is continued.
The nutrients percentage intake is more than DRI and it drew my attention towards Dwight’s diet. I started began to research his diet and found that what is responsible for that misbalance. Vitamins A, D, E and C are less than 75%, which says that he has to modify his eating habits and take a command in his hand by introducing healthier options.
Do you think consumption of enriched foods could have had an impact on Dwight’s intake of thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folate, and iron? In other words, did he meet his DRI for thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, and iron primarily because he consumed enriched foods, especially grains? How could Dwight consume adequate amounts of thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, and iron without relying on enriched foods?
Enriched foods are also known as fortified foods. In particular, they help in bridging the gap between mineral and vitamin consumption. It is required to consume as per recommendation else too much of it will lead to overdoses. As mentioned by Khandelwal et al., fortified are processed foods, which can be harmful for digestive system if taken long. The vitamin is quite good as per DRI requirement but mineral intake needs to be improved as it is below then the recommended DRI intake.
Thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, and iron are micronutrients, which helps in energy metabolism. These are Vitamin B nutrients and whole grains are rich source of it. Avocados are natural...
