The assessment requests students to develop a business process management plan for a particular case in an organisation, a department or a project environment. The plan incorporates identifying the existing (As-Is) situation of the processes of the case, and a few possible future states (To-Be) of these processes for improvement on efficiency and other benefits. In addition, the students need to develop an ideal processes (Should-Be) plan to best suit the organisation and the project. Furthermore, the students will provide a performance evaluation report based on the scenarios created in the “Should-Be” processes to complete this assessment. The case can be from an organisation or a project the students participated in before. This assessment contains TWO parts. To prepare for this assessment: • Review Modules 1, 2 and 3 for Part A; Module 4 and 5 for Part B; • Identify a case from any industrial sector (production or service industry) you experienced. Part A: Business Process Analytical Plan Choose a realistic and detailed organisation or project, and analyse the Business Process Management (BPM) methods and techniques taught in the first three modules. Students are required to work on a process analytical plan (including As-Is and To-Be process mapping). Introduction
    As the business market becomes more and more competitive at a cumulative rate, the sustaining of a business for a business organisation becomes very difficult, as the market share gets divided among rival organisations and new competitors, bringing in exclusive offers and services, which successfully capture the fancy of the customers. In order to sustain in the harsh business environment, developed locally, nationally or internationally, the need for improvement becomes a necessary part of the business. With a proper business process management, business organisations can improve their marketing strategy, their product and service development strategies, and quality of the offering. In the current report the business process management at Telstra has been used as the case study and based on the findings business process analytic plan has been formulated, which aims to offer in depth understanding of the method Telstra uses to improve its services and remain one of the leading telecommunication organisations in Australia.
Business Process Management (BPM) Used by Telstra
    Telstra as a company uses multiple business process management techniques to benefit itself from the diverse changes taking place in the Australian market, in terms of competition, service offering, pricing policies and discovery of new avenues of profiting. Firstly, the company is seen investing in software companies that make BPM softwares (Mendling et al. 2018). The developed BPM software helps the company to execute the basic steps of BPM in a computerised process instead of the manual processes, which offers higher efficiency, accuracy and lower cost along with higher capacity. Telstra is also seen adapting higher rates of automation, the algorithms of which are being created on the basis of data mining process (Telstra Corporation Limited, 2018). The higher degree of automation at workplace, as mentioned by Wright and Schultz (2018), makes service providing business more capable of offering higher capacity, while retaining minimal human resources, generating higher profit.
    In addition, Telstra is also including smaller and larger organisations, located in different parts of the country to get their services reach further customer bases and increase its profit margins from the increased revenue and higher customer retention (Computer World, 2014). It is evident that among the five basic steps of BPM, Telstra focuses on the optimisation and monitoring, while rely upon the partnering organisations for designing, modelling of the services and their execution. As noted by St Clair et al. (2018), Telstra is also using the cloud storage solution for itself, which is making service providing decentralised, easier to access and reach a widely in the market, penetrating deeper into different demographics. As Telstra is including new organisations and their strategic perspectives into their own system, to integrate the positive sides of their new approach to mass scales and benefit rapidly.
