INTRODUCTION :
General definition to leadership is managing and leading a group of people or an organization. A leader should be capable of enabling a person motivated to the goals set by the organization. Leader should be involved in communicating, inspiring and enhancing growth and capabilities of an individual. And every manager should be a
leader in himself/herself only then they can justify the role and responsibility of the position. Leadership is nothing but being responsible and taking ownership to the entire team and the task allotted. A good leader should be able to give ideas and also respect the ideas of the individuals and make them executed in well structures manner. The ideas and the action plans take should not penalize the major outcome of the organization and a manager here the main role comes out as the manger should balance both the management and leadership among the group.
According to Keith Davis, “Leadership is quality to make others to seek and perform the defined objectives enthusiastically. It is a factor of human to make a group motivated and drive with in a specified direction designed for an organizational promotion”.
Leadership Qualities of a Manager:
Evolution of leadership
Here I can give classic example of a great person who eventually became a great leader i.e., Steve jobs, who started his Apple computer from Garage in 1976, was fired by his board of directors as the company is in huge competition race and disagreed all the future plans of the CEO. After developing the NeXT computer and the Pixar Animation Studios, then he proved his talent and capabilities once again with great outcomes which made Apple rehire him as CEO to the company in 1997. After becoming the CEO of the company he developed many of the great products which now having high demand as a good quality and classy product they ipod, iphone, Apple watch and many other products.
After his return to the company at his early ages of management, he used to shout at co- workers, colleagues, employees if he finds any failure in the project. He did not give much importance to the emotional feelings of the persons. But later he eventually learned how to manage the people and how to respect them. He then gave much importance to their security and then he laid a way so that he pulled them in a direction which can give them results. But the sad part is that after his return to the company he was forced to cut off the staff. There was a huge lay off in the company and he quoted them as part of showing sympathy to their families.
Steve Jobs died on 5th October, 2011 at the age of 56. Even after his death his name, fame, reputation and respect remained and reflects as synonym for victory, innovation, genius and success icon. This is a huge evaluation as a leader.
