The aim of this report was to investigate the ways of promoting student independence through peer-to-peer learning. A survey of students from each college was conducted i
n first semester of the academic year. Overall, the results indicate that peer to peer learning cooperative learning, increasing problem solving skills, filling skill gaps, stimulating creativity and learning from each other are the ways. The report concludes that the peer-to-peer learning considered as the most effective medium that helps the students to improve their academic learning and also improve the coordination among the students. In the present times independent learning is the most effective tool that increases the knowledge of the students. With the help of independent learning student can easily clear his or her doubts and can easily solve them with his own learning. Research that demonstrates that peer-to-peer learning can be used to promote student engagement in class and increase learning.
This report will investigate current research and assess the possibility of peer-to-peer learning in a classroom setting. The report justify that peer to peer learning promote the independent learning for the students. To increase the learning among the students, peer-to-peer learning is the best way that helps to share the knowledge among the students.
Body:
Researchers claimed that most of the universities are promoting peer-to-peer learning in order to improve the way of learning among the students. It is also to be noted that peer learning is not a single undifferentiated educational strategy that increases the coordination among the students. Peer to peer learning is a mutually beneficial activity that understands all as a tutor and a learner. It aids the student for the continuous development by supporting likeminded persons to employ in exchanging knowledge by coordination, networking, explanation and sharing of the relevant details that enable the people to increase the knowledge of other person and manage the educational strategy (Boud et al 2014, p.56). The small overview tells all 4 ways in which peer to peer learning increases students’ independence.
Thus, O'Donnell & King, 2014 have argued that peer to peer learning encourage the students to give importance to self-learning rather to depend on others.
