Codes of Ethics-Discussion
Code of Ethics or Code of Conduct is a set of guidelines formulated and designed by the particular organization to guide the employees and professionals, the directors as well as the managers to maintain honesty in conducting business as well as establish integrity in the working process. According to Gotterbarn et al. (2017), a code of ethics which is also referred to as ethical code puts forward and establishes the vision and mission of a particular organization to inform the professionals regarding how they should align their behavior and conducts to fit with the vision and history of the organization. According to Radi (2020), it also provides the employees with an insight as to how they ought to approach different problems as well as deal with the ethical principles that are erected on the standards and core values of the particular organization to which the employee is engaged. According to Gotterbarn et al. (2018), the code of ethics encompasses three centrally important areas of an organization, that, business ethics, the code associated with professional practice as well as the code of conduct expected of an employee.
Every business organization must have a code of ethics as it acts as a guiding factor for the professionals regarding what is permissible and what is not in certain organizations. The code also lays down the set of behavioral rules that should be maintained by all the employees as well as employers. According to Board (2019), it can also act as a pre-emptive warning for behaviors and conducts that are not permissible in the organizations. Moreover, breaking the code of conduct can lead to the termination and dismissal of the employees.

According to Zhang and Wu (2017), in discriminatory workplaces, employees who are different from the majority are often demeaned and disrespected. They are also compelled to go through numerous experiences of prejudice as well as harassment. For instance, if a pregnant woman is constantly being marginalized as being inefficient and incapable just due to her physical condition, it will be considered as a discriminatory attitude on the part of the employees. In another instance, when a homosexual employee is being bullied and harassed by the co-employees based on his/her sexual preferences and choices, this incident is deemed to be a breach of the code of ethics. Even in Crown Resorts, although such cases of discrimination are uncommon, there have instances of discrimination based on the disabilities of individuals where older employees have been harassed and called unproductive and inefficient.
