You are a data analyst with John and Sons Company. The company has a large number of
manufacturing plants in the United States
and overseas. The company plans to open a new
manufacturing plant. It has to decide whether to open this plant in the United States or
overseas.
What is an appropriate null hypothesis to compare the quality of the product manufactured in

Answer:
Our goal is to decide whether the new manufacturing plant should open in United States or in
overseas based on the quality of the product. The quality can be measured by so many ways. If
there is no difference in the quality of the product manufactured in the overseas plants and the
U.S. plants, then the decision can be taken based on the cost-benefits analysis but if the quality
is the major concerned not the cost then we can define our research question based on the
defective items produced by the U.S. plant and Overseas plants. We can define the null
hypothesis as:
