Written Assignment 5: Continuous Improvement Plan

As a summary exercise in this course, you are required to construct your Continuous Improvement Plan, which includes your personalized action plan for improvement in at least three areas identified from the inputs listed below and within the math, science, and engineering realm. In developing your plan, you will utilize the acronym SMART, which stands for:

  • Specific

  • Measurable

  • Attainable

  • Realistic

  • Timely

Each action item should pass the test for each of the five SMART criteria. For more information, refer to the article,How to Develop a SMART Action Plan. The action plans you identify for improvement should be personally meaningful. For example, you may have scored low on a particular portion of the Capstone Assessment instrument, but if you know that area does not relate to your foreseeable career plans, you do not need to construct an action plan for it.

  • The inputs to the plan include:

    • Self-diagnostic assessments conducted in Module 1, based on the results from your Capstone Comprehensive Assessment Instrument and ABET ETAC Student Outcomes for your degree program.

    • Lessons learned from this course, including the advanced math module.

    • Professional constraints or aspirations.

  • To summarize the requirements of this assignment, you need the following:

    • Action items for at least three areas that you self-identified in this course

    • Focus on improvement areas in math, science, or engineering

    • A minimum of 100 words for each action item

    • SMART action items for each area

This paper will highlight the continuous improvement plan through this SMART criteria methodology in the field of science, math and engineering (Bagherpur, 2020).
