3. Examine the two major political parties, the Republican and Democratic party. Compare and contrast how each party’s platform is similar to and different from one another. Consider each party’s views on the role of government, the rights of individuals, civil liberties, civil rights, social, economic and foreign policy. What political values are most important to each party?
4. Who is your Congressman or Senator? How long have they served in public office? What is their political and professional background? Identify issues of concern to them, legislation introduced, and their voting record in your answer. What committees do they serve on? Do they hold leadership positions? Consider the ways in which they use their position and influence to affect legislation and positively represent their congressional district or state.
