Remember that the essay must be narrative. It must tell a story in each paragraph. Narrative depends on recreating events by using description: what happened? Who was there? When did it happen? Where? Use the senses.
For all the prompts: ultimately, describe the role your selections played in your life. Be specific in terms of influence on life experience, education or memory. The narrative essay should not just list the 3-5 items or describe events: it must, in the end, put forth one central idea, reach a conclusion, etc.
The essay must also be consistent with one type of media throughout: if you begin with books, the essay must focus on 3-5 books throughout; if you begin with movies, focus on only movies throughout; etc. Do
notstart out with a book in body paragraph 1, then switch to a movie in body paragraph 2, etc.
