Chevrolet is a division of General Motors Corporation which is named after popular road racer Louis Chevrolet. The automobile company was founded by Louis Chevrolet and General Motors founder William C Durant in the year 1911. However, General Motors acquired the Chevrolet motor car in 1918. Consequently, Chevrolet became the brand of General Motors and became the most competing model of General Motors in the United States. The mission statement of the company is to provide it the highest quality of services in all the aspects of automatic dealership and provide the customers with the best wine and servicing experience in the auto industry. The Vision statement of Chevrolet in 2021 is, "Driven to keep you driving for another 80 years." While the values of Chevrolet circle around the people associated with the company, community development, reputation, professionalism, and work ethics.
SWOT Analysis
Strength- Chevrolet is currently operating in 200 countries where they sell the highest number of cars including the developing nations and most significant emerging markets of the world like China, India, and other Asian countries. The brand has a history of hundred years and has introduced hybrid models with efficient innovations and technological advancements in the automobile industry. Chevrolet is a flagship brand under the umbrella brand under General Motors which is a renowned brand in the automotive industry. It has a wide range of product portfolios starting from hatchback, sedan, SUV, and commercial vehicles like buses and trucks (Jeong et al.). The company has a pool of more than 3 hundred thousand highly skilled employees who are efficiently operating in 200 countries.
Weakness- Chevolret witnessed several controversies regarding the faulty ignition switch. This aspect was linked with several deaths. The company is not effectively advertising and is struggling with low visibility across various mediums as compared to the competitors (Bec). After-sales services of Chevrolet are expensive compared to other competitors and therefore it is affecting the buying decisions of the customers.
Opportunities- Chevloret has an effective opportunity to increase its product portfolio. Strategic Alliance can be an effective measure for Chevrolet to design and redesign various aspects of the automobile industry. Enhancing awareness about the use of public transport owing to environmental sustainability will also increase the demand for commercial vehicles like buses.
