Date Assigned: _________________ Date Due: __________ at the beginning of class (Final acceptance date: _________) Format: The essay will be typed using a clear, size 10 or 11 font. This assignment requires a cover page, with the type of essay (Sourced Cause & Effect Essay) and the student’s name centered on the title page. In addition, the title of the essay (Cause & Effect Essay) should be centred at the top of the first page of the essay. The student’s name should be placed directly under the title. All typed submissions should be double spaced. Expectations: The essay should be written using the guidelines taught in class. These include the following: The introductory paragraph should be 3-5 sentences in length, and include a strong, three-point thesis as a final sentence. The thesis must mention the three causes or effects to be discussed. Each of the three body paragraphs should be approximately 5-7 sentences in length and should explain the causes or effects in some detail. Each should have a clear, concise topic sentence that may include a transition word. Each body paragraph should also contain three supporting ideas that are supported by solid, relevant research. Quotations and paraphrasing are recommended. All external sources must be referenced using APA (in-text and in the References page). The pandemic has transformed the life of each of us by influencing the family dynamics and this has its effect on our mental health with children, young people and women disproportionately affected. The mental health impact of morbidity and mortality related to COVID-19 on the affected families is enormous. The various control measures including closure of educational institutes, offices and public places have also given rise to increased psycho-social problems. This is unfolding an unmatched mental health crisis across the globe and poses a challenge to the psychological resilience of countries across the world. If thorough interventions are not in place, we may soon bear witness to a ‘second pandemic’ of mental health in the future.
Impact of COVID-19 on family dynamics
    According to Parekh & Dalwai (2020), families have gone through an increased sense of loss in terms of loss of social networks, loss of employment and financial safety. This has also influenced the quality of relationships amongst family members and their social circles. This poses a substantial risk on the mental health of children (0-14 years) in both developed and developing countries across the world given their development depends on positive family processes.
