Write a thesis statement that could be used to lead a three-to-five-page fiction analysis essay.
Choose any short story we have read so far this term (use a story you NOT yet written about in other assignments) and consider its use of plot elements such as climax, conflict, resolution, flashbacks, foreshadowing, etc.
Then write a thesis statement that includes:
1) the author's name and the story's title
2) an arguable, supportable claim regarding the plot of the story. Your claim should emphasize how the plot elements create or reinforce meaning or a specific theme in the story (what purpose do they serve?).
Here is an example thesis statement:
In "The Things They Carried," Tim O'Brien uses flashbacks and foreshadowing to illustrate how interconnected the events in the story are, revealing the truth that events from the past continue to affect the present.
You are only writing a thesis statement, therefore, this will be a relatively short post. However, you must still use academic style. Remember, too, to follow the tips and characteristics of a strong.
The story name is: Battle Royal
