John Tirman’s 100 Ways America is Screwing Up the World, provides the readers with an unabashed and insightful perspective of the ways in which America is moving towards its downfall. The author comments on a variety of issues ranging from environmental destruction to the promotion of detestable personal health and eating habits to the silencing of the free press. Throughout the book he comments on various issues including America’s obsession with consumerism, rise of pro-war mindset and current globalisation of Christian evangelism. With scientific intelligence, the artistic brilliance has begun to grow alongside of it since the Second World War. America is primarily the foundation of the pop music all around the world nowadays, which also includes jazz, rock, blues and some classical as well. Tirman mentions that the top ten best painters from the post-war period were from America and they possibly comprise of Rauschenberg, Rothko, Warhol, de Kooning, Pollock, Shahn and Wyeth. Not only top painters but also top film directors like Huston, Hitchcock, Coppola, Spielberg, Scorsese, Lee, and Allen were from America (John Tirman, 2006).
Tirman also mentions the great writers of America such as Williams, Angelou, Mailer, Didion, Roth,...
