General overview of the reading
This particular article is about studying perceived homesickness and discrimination and for conducting the study in detail the authors compared American and International students. To be precise the authors examined the differences in the group concerning homesickness and perceived discrimination by collecting a sample from almost 439 students. However, the relationship between discrimination, homesickness, English proficiency, age, and how long the international students have been the residents of United States have been examined by the authors. The results of the study showcased the fact that international students are always the ones that experienced a huge level of homesickness and discrimination when contrasted with the students who lived in the United States. The students who had the lowest levels of English Proficiency and younger students reported the highest level of homesickness and perceived discrimination.
There are some of the major recommendations by the authors for improving the situation such as a few programs that need to be conducted for educating staff, faculty, as well as the campus community as it will benefit the educational institutions. These types of programs will also help the international students for feeling more comfortable, speak well about their respective universities and countries, and also promote healthy international relations between all of the countries that are involved.
