Introduction
The criminal justice system refers to the system where in laws, rules and regulations,
ethics, police and workforce for the prevention of crime are involved. The basic purpose of this
system is to ensure justice and equ
ality to all citizens along with security and protection of their
rights. It helps create peace and harmony in a nation (Hinchy, R. & McDermott, P, 2009).
The Federal and the state government have well distinguished roles in the implementation
of criminal justice policy. It is quite possible that they work together. The programs of CJIS
include several departments which focus on the resolution of crime and this makes sharing of
information an essential element of the success of these departments. They are required to ensure
that there be appropriate co ordination as well as team work between these departments. It is
essential that there be appropriate levels of enforcement of criminal justice regulations.
Selected Criminal policy
Three strikes sentencing mandates state courts to implement harsher judgments on
individuals convicted more than 3 times. It is also known as habitual offender law.
