There is a vast amount of digital information which needs to be well protected from being misused by miscreants on the cyber world. This has led to development of the security for the information that is often critical to several individuals, organizations and countries over the internet. Over the past few years there were many security threats which grabbed the attention technology providers with various ways to increase the security and various security levels to address each area of interest. The security aspects with respect to building, ground level, access control, information security are also discussed.
Security is about integrity and protecting property or interests from intrusions, stealing or wire tapping where privacy is challenged. There is always a need to restrict access to our assets where in only granting access to a few, whom we trust after verifying their credentials known as authentication. So Security is finally narrowed down to issues like privacy, trust, integrity of the system and authenticity. It’s that the environments can be hostile because of physical threats due to weather, natural disasters, power failures and human threats like stealing, bribery, spying and finally software threats like viruses, denial of services and many more. These factors will result in loss of ability to use system, files and important data, reputation, money and letting private and confidential information spread around.
The physical security rated most important one is to be discussed here. The Building security can be placed at all tunnel access points also on the roof hatches and on the exterior doors. These points can be equipped with position sensor and also annunciator to detect intrusions and also use the electronic locks or exit sensors. There should be one or more card reader entrances depending on the number of people using the network, telecom, server and gateway rooms using these access cards and intrusion detection systems are installed. The administration areas, sensitive materials storage rooms also to be provided with card access. The building safety and security should have fire safety measures adopted including fire exits clearly specified, electronically locking and unlocking have procedures clearly as per recommended schedules of the campus safety and security.
