For this midterm select any option (just ONE), respond with approximately 2 pages, Double-Spaced, of quality, well-reasoned text, wherein you present a logical coherent essay, employing MLA format.

  • Explore related textbook sections related to dreams and myths, Dreams and Myth… (Part 5). Discuss the connection between universal symbols (archetypes) and myth. In what ways might the ancient ‘myth-makers’ understand dreams as symbols or signs?

  • Create a myth narrative that fits the Campbell model of Hero using
    "Cat Breading" or “Puppy-Monkey-Baby”, the GeicoGecko,DosEquis'Most Interesting Man
    , or similar character from popular advertising (or the Internet/meme)- feel free to get political!!! Make sure that the physical characteristics of the character are explained through your narrative. Cite your source for this character.

  • Select any feature-length film Disney or popular cinema (animated or otherwise, Herculesnotan option)- discuss the content as it fits the Campbell model of hero. Do not provide a film summary but instead analyze the film’s content.

  • After examining Chapter 37 (3rd edition) or Chapter 36 (4th edition), respond to the following prompts: address the motivation for Grimm’s brothers to collect folktales and fairy tales, note characteristics that relate Otto Rank’s “family romance” to “The Goose Girl”.

Consider video games... For this option review myth characters as they have been 'borrowed' for video games, are these new interpretations consistent with the mythological figure within the context of his/her own era? Discuss.
Reading ancient mythology can help us understand how old the fantasy world is. These fantasies are sometimes replicated in other texts with a little modification and can be related well. Besides texts, video games are something that is based on fantasy. Most videogames have got unreal and unnatural creatures in it who we generally fight against. Those creatures are most likely to be taken from the ancient mythological characters. Intertextuality plays a major role here which means that one text is a copy of another texts. Even if we don’t take the exact ideas, we do take elements of it, we modify it with our own skills of imagination and put it out slightly changed. Afterall, the former text has some influence...
