Working as an Enrolled nurse, you need to recognise and respect diversity and understand that everyone must be treated with courtesy and respect regardless of their race, religion, gender, beliefs or culture. You need to recognise and understand different cultures and how cultural differences can affect your work.

In this assessment activity you are to examine your personal experiences of working with culturally diverse groups of people and to reflect on your own social and cultural bias.

To do this use the Reflective cycle attached and follow these steps.

1. Description

Think of a recent incident where you were working with a socially and/or culturally diverse person or group of people. It would be great if it was an Aboriginal person. This may have been at your work place or while communicating with a fellow Holmesglen student. What happened?  2. Feelings

What did you already know about the background of this person or group of people? What did you think and feel at the time?
