Format: The End-of-Semester test comprises three essay questions based on content drawn from
the prescribed text. Students are required to draw directly on content from the prescribed text, and as such, this is an open-book test. This Test is also an individual assessment task, and so to ensure its integrity,
students will need to submit the Test via Turnitin as evidence that no collaboration has occurred.



Duration: The duration of the test is approximately 5 days, beginning 9AM on October 26th, and concluding at Friday 11.59 PM on October 30th.



Description: Each of the three questions that follow
use the exact same context you used in Assessment Task 2
(e.g. either the Language Translator
OR
the high-tech backpack). Students are required to answer all 3 questions:



  1. Imagine that your Marketing Strategy is going to revolve around Digital Marketing. Drawing on ideas inspired from pages 37-53 of your prescribed textbook, provide a Digital Marketing strategy for yourLanguage Translator / High-tech backpack (approximately 1000 words). This question is worth 20 of the 50 marks on offer.

  2. In order for an organisation to practice Corporate Social Responsibility it must; (1) make a positive contribution to its local economy; (2) make a positive social contribution to its local community; and (3) not cause any harm to its local environment. Using Table 3.1 of yourprescribed textbook (page 85) to help inspire your ideas, what specific actions can you take to make your Language Translator / High-tech backpack more Corporate Socially Responsible in regards to each of these three areas (approximately 500 words)? This question is worth 10 of the 50 marks on offer.

The objective of a marketing strategy needs to be specific, measurable and achievable. Based on this criterion, the following objectives were chosen for the Digital Marketing strategy.
1- Reach 50,000 traffic results from marketing endeavours.
2- Reduce traffic bounce rates by 50% by year-end.
Target Market-
The target market refers to the po
pulation that our product will target and one that is most likely to buy the product. Upon assessment of past and current sales, the following conclusion was reached-
The marketing efforts will focus on targeting the young population that is in constant use of backpacks. The age group considered for this is 18 – 50 years. In addition, the target will be middle to higher income customers as the backpack is designed to be an affordable luxury. Both the genders will be considered as target market.
Strategy-
The marketing strategy includes the modes and efforts the company is going to take in order to ensure that the marketing objectives are met. In relation to the current market trends, the following 5 elements shall be included as a marketing strategy for the company’s digital platform-
1- Website Optimization
Website Optimization refers to improving website interface in such a manner that potential customers are converted to active customers. Websites form the face of a company in the digital world. Websites that are good, updated and interactive bring about positive response in customers. In order to achieve website optimization a company needs to make efficient use of its resources and give it their best.
Website optimization cannot be performed by laymen. It is important to hire professionals to handle the company website, so that the website can be updated promptly and customer queries answered promptly. Websites optimization helps retain the traffic to the website and once retained, it aims at converting them into purchasing customers. In the growing digital world, it is very important that websites be optimized.
As a result the company has decided to employ experts in order to undertake website optimization of High-tech backpack.
2- SEO
The Search Engine Optimization or (SEO) aims to create a higher rank of a certain keyword in search engine result pages. This would result in increasing the website traffic. SEO includes everything from the design of pages to the interlinks added. The only way a website can convert potential customers to actual customers if more an more people visit the website. This is made possible through SEO.
Search Engine Optimization involves hiring a specialist to optimize the webpages of the company website so that a certain keyword or list of keywords, rank higher in search engines such as google, bing etc. this will provide our website with a lot of exposure and drive traffic to the website, with more people searching who search for things related to the backpack, getting exposed to the High-tech backpack.
SEO specialist are going to be hired by the company in order to undertake extensive search engine optimization. This would include both on-site optimization as well as blogging and advertising optimizations (Grewal et al, 2010).
3- Social Media marketing-
Social media marketing is one of the strongest tools of digital marketing in today’s world. Social marketing involves the use of various social media networks as a platform for marketing. This is similar to advertising in newspapers and magazines, only the coverage of social media is international while the traditional mode works for only a small physical area. There are several social media platforms that can be used for marketing including facebook, twitter, whatsapp, Instagram etc. Each of these have a special mode in which marketing can be undertaken.
Social media marketing allows marketers several advantages. It helps them to track their progress and success in different fields. It also allows them to manage online marketing campaigns to provide better social media exposure for products. Such practice enables marketers to connect with their target audience successfully. This technique is especially effective to target the younger age group. Since the High-tech backpacks target the younger population, using social media as a source for marketing will be extremely helpful.
The company will hire social media marketing experts in order to create extensive and effective social media marketing campaigns. This will help expose High-tech backpacks to the target audience.
