With your friends, whirl a bucket of water in a vertical circle fast enough so the water doesn’t spill out. As it happens, the water in the bucket is falling, but with less speed than you give to the bucket. Tell your friends how your bucket swing is like satellite motion—that satellites in orbit continuously fall toward Earth, but not with enough vertical speed to get closer to the curved Earth below. Remind your friends that physics is about finding the connections in nature!
