Select the appropriate OS version for your computer. •Follow the Install prompts selecting the checkboxes appropriate for your computer. •After restarting check your internet connection by opening a browser to connect to any destination address. •Open Wireshark and select the network connection you are using. •The Wireshark GUI has 3 vertically stacked windows. Look at the top section and you should see a moving list (scrolling upwards) of rows, each row represents a captured data packet. •Close your browser and reopen it reconnect to google.com and look for a related packet scrolling upward in the list. •Use the red square button to freeze the scrolling list. •Now you can inspect each line in the top window. a.Look at the protocol type b.Look at the source (src) IP address and Destination (dst) IP address c.You should see 2 different IP addresses one for the server and one for your computer. •Look in the middle window. It will display information about the packet you have selected in the top window. Click on each of the items in the middle window. >Frame will highlight the entire packet (shown in the lower window) >Ethernet II will highlight the 1st section of the packet (shown in the lower window) along with the MAC address (shown on the same line) of both machines communicating. > Internet Protocol will highlight the 2nd section of the packet (shown in the lower window) and the src and dst addresses are shown out to the right.
