The United Nations became the focus of the Convention on Children Rights. This is a bit awkward for the United States because it’s only three countries that have not ratified Convention on the Rights of the Child. The

Why might a state be reluctant to ratify an international human rights convention? Discuss, with reference to legal examples
The provisions of the Convention on Rights of the Child do not seem to be controversial-which may be why it’s so extensively adopted-and are centered on defending children from abuse, exploitation and neglect, enabling them to reach their maximum probability and enable them to take part in the family, social and Cultural life (McBain, 2013). However in the United States, some people worry that CRC will interfere with the parents ’right to beat their children and opt out of sex education. Supporter of Convention on the Rights of the Child believe that Convention recognizes the significance of the family as well as protect the parents rights. The end outcome is that United States lags behind other countries in its commitment to the children’s privileges. As an Economist pointed out, signing the Convention on the Rights of the Child does not essentially involve amending a huge number of local laws. In addition to the fact that children under the age of 18 can be sentenced to life imprisonment and sentenced to life imprisonment, and May modify the laws of some states to fight sm children. However, this does mean that when the United States announces its human rights records to other countries, the United States is in an unstable state (S.C. | NEW YORK, 2013).
The CRC is not the only human privileges convention that the United States will not sign. It has not yet ratified the Convention on Elimination of All kinds of Discriminations against a Woman, which is the main document on women’s equality in the world. Although many nations have been signed the CEDAW (Sandholtz, 2012), there are some reservations, including most Arab countries, which expressly agree to the CEDAW only if they do not violate the Islamic Law ", While the only other country in Somalia that has not been approved is South Sudan, Iran or the two South Pacific islands of Tonga and Palau. It has not signed Convention on Enforced Disappearances, which prohibit the state from secretly detaining and abducting people. This may be because the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) was managing the secret prison during the drafting of the convention. It also did not ratify the Mine Clearance Treaty, the Cluster Ammunition Convention moreover the Convention on the privileges of Persons with the Disabilities. The major obstacle for the United States to sign these treaties is to worry that they will interfere with the sovereignty of the United States (Smith, 2010). If the country is not too keen to violate the sovereignty of other nations in name of human privileges, this will be a simple argument to preserve. If the United States plans to rely more and more on a soft power moreover diplomacy to attain its foreign guidelines goals in countries such as Iran and Syria, then the United States will soon discover that such hypocrisy does pay a price (Wilken, 2017).
