Who are you? Essay
Answer the following questions using text, and pictures if you’d like. Use a Word document with standard font (Times New Roman 12) and normal margins. All assignment rules outlined in the syllabus apply.
1. Write about your name.
(My name is Plarent)
How do you feel about it? Does it have any special meaning or connection? If you could choose your own name, would you? Why or why not? If so, what name would you choose and why?
2. What compelled you to come to college?
(I am 50 years old)
What compels you keep moving forward even when it gets very difficult? What are some of the obstacles that you have faced in your college journey? How did you overcome them?
3. What or who do you love?
(I am married, and I have a son)
What or who brings you joy? What makes you laugh really hardily? Why?
4. What specific quality or trait do you feel is unique to you? Where and how can that trait or quality be applied to do good – for your career, for your family, for society? Have you done any good with this special “you-ness” yet? If so, what, and what was the result?
5. How do your friends and family describe you? Do you feel it’s accurate? What would you add or change about their perceptions? How do you want people to see you – specifically, people who do not know you? What do you think it takes to make that perception happen?
6. Is there anything I need to know about your concerns, needs, or hopes for this class? This final question can be an opening to a discussion later, or can just take place in a discussion later (during office hours) if you’d like.
