While the blog is built throughout the term, the reflective report is to be developed towards the end of the term, as it requires you to present a
critical self-analysis and reflection of your learning as a result of experiencing Design Thinking and entrepreneurial activity
within this unit. The self-analysis and reflection must consider your
personal development, as well as the
development of your knowledge
of Design Thinking and entrepreneurship topics. As a conclusion, students are to develop an
action plan of key events and activities
that they can undertake over the next 6 months to acquire any knowledge, skills and behaviours identified as requiring development.


The reflective report should be submitted as a Word document with a length of
2,500 words (+/- 10%), excluding preliminaries, tables, figures and references. Your reflective report must make reference to appropriate academic literature and theory in a critical way. Moreover, the report it
MUST make explicit reference to appropriate evidence in your blog
using a clear cross-reference system. The reflective report must make use of at least
10 high-quality references

Introduction
The course ―Design It‖ offered a critical and useful knowledge with relevance and scope
spanning both academic and practical industry knowledge spanning across the application of
the design, innovation as well as diffusion related theories / frameworks applicable across all
of the diff
erent stages in innovation, the needs analysis with respect to design as well as
improvements over the contexts of digital, commercial, service, and, social nature, the
development of ideas with respect to newer designs / innovations in the contexts of digital,
commercial, service, and, social nature by making use of design thinking, applying the design
methodologies for the prototyping of ideas, incubating solutions with respect to innovation
ideas with respect to the contexts of digital, commercial, service, and, social nature, and,
working in a collaborative manner in groups for designing innovations, etc.
These overall scope of the course offered immense excitement even before the course started
and the learning process and overall experience lived up to the experiences to the initial
expectations. The objective of this report is to present a critical and reflective analysis of my
personal experiences with respect to the overall knowledge / learning from the course as well
as personal development in alignment to the course outcome objectives and beyond.
Knowledge Learning – Self-Analysis & Reflection
Entrepreneurship as an ability is highly desirable for anyone who is planning a long term
career. The current business environment expects people who seek to be employed to be
driven, be empowered, and most, importantly, have both attitude and aptitude for innovation,
critical thinking, and, a drive to work in an independent / empowered manner. In this context,
design thinking course offers a structured, scientific and adaptable approach to pursue

innovation and critical problem solving in any contexts. Design thinking can be stated as the
creative strategies which a designer shall utilize over the designing process (Gruber et al.,
2015; Geissdoerfer et al., 2016; Brenner & Uebernickel, 2016). In addition, design thinking
can in addition also refer to the approach which could be utilized for considering the issues,
with the means for aiding the resolution of these various issues, at a broader level than just be
limited to professional form of design practices and have application across the issues
spanning social, business, etc. contexts (Gruber et al., 2015; Geissdoerfer et al., 2016;
Brenner & Uebernickel, 2016). In the context of business, design thinking makes use of the
methods as well as sensibilities of the designers for matching the needs of people with what
can be feasible technologically as well as what are viable forms of business strategy to
convert the idea into market opportunity / customer value (Gruber et al., 2015; Geissdoerfer

application of design thinking made ultimate case for my complete interest and focus into the
subject matter. This made me focus on going beyond class lectures and activities, and
undertake readings in various sources. In specific, the process of undertaking design with its
structured and methodical scope offered critical scope to adapt and apply the same to any
context and circumstances.
When noted in the form of approach, the process of design thinking shall tap within human
capacities of innate nature yet which shall be overlooked through increasing practices of
traditional problem solving nature (Ben Mahmoud-Jouini et al., 2016; Frow et al., 2015;
Seidel & Fixson, 2013). The same do not just focus over the creation of products. In general,
process of designing initiated with an inspiration stage over which previous step pertains to

definition concerning the brief (Ben Mahmoud-Jouini et al., 2016; Frow et al., 2015; Seidel &
Fixson, 2013). This brief refers to a range of mental level constraints which offers the
relevant project team with a model through which the beginning can be undertaken,
benchmarks through which they could measure overall progress, as well as range of specific
objectives that shall be reached like individually or in combination the market segments,
available technology, price points, etc. Designers essentially approach the users by way of
empathy and understanding what individuals shall need, or, may need, what shall make their
life better, more enjoyable, and easier, what are useful technologically as well as more useful
