The chosen business for the current study has been Nike, which is a global leader in manufacturing sports-wear and has one of the most prestigious reputations in making shoes. The company, Nike, started under the name of Blur Ribbon Sports was the brainchild of Phil Knight, an athlete and his couch Bill Bowerman. Before the Nike was founded, the reputed German shoe making companies dominated the show market, which carried a high price tag. Considering the price point, Phil Knight noticed that Japanese shoe makers were able to make quality shoes with lower pricing. Considering the impact of low cost quality shoes in the American market, Phil Knights and Bill Bowerman started selling shoes of Onitsuka Tiger Japanese shoes, which became popular within year. In the following year, in 1966, Nike opened their first retail store and with the making of Steve Prefontaine, who was a renowned athlete of his time, the brand ambassador, of the company, Nike became a reputed mainstream shoe manufacturer (Nike News, 2018). The company currently has 44,000 employees worldwide and despite being an American company, has its biggest retail outlet in United Kingdom, making at cater to $7 billion in company revenue (Business Insider, 2015).

Nike’s aims and objectives revolve around the aspect of innovation and quality, both, which directly affects the pricing, designing and the cultural heritage that is associated with the brand. As mentioned by York (2018), in order to make business successful in multiple markets, the external condition must be included under consideration. With the help of PESTEL analysis, Nike would be able to assess the political, economic, socio-cultural, technological, environmental and legal aspects of a particular market. Nike can assess the market stability with assessing its political condition. As stated by Lapple and Thorne (2018), in order to sustain innovation and quality of a product a stable market is needed, which again is depended on stable political conditions. High-priced innovative and quality products require high buying power of the customers in the market, which again can be found through PESTEL analysis, as it brings into focus the economic condition of a market.
