The following report consist of info
rmation about the implementation of sustainable approach in the airline industry. It gives the insight of the business strategy taken by organisation to meet their sustainable approach. It also rules out the ethics and code of ethics followed in the business to work in a healthy environment. The dedication of industry in achieving sustainability and the charities and voluntary programs taken by corporation to achieve goodwill is explained. It also gives recommendation such as use of recycling method, to airline industries to improve their sustainable approach.
2. Introduction
The idea of sustainable approach arises due to the need of sustainable development in current environmental crisis (Charter and Tischner, 2017). Sustainable development can be explained as the development that fulfils the requirement of the current generation in such a way that their will be availability of resources so that coming generations can able to fulfil their needs. According to Le Blanc (2015), this concept is introduced due to negative impact of economic development on environment. Strong rules and regulations are implemented on all the businesses so that they can produce using sustainable approach. Aviation industries has brought changes to meet the sustainable approach. For example, airlines are using biofuels in commercial flights and biofuels are blended with jet fuel for aircrafts as an alternative fuel.
3. Sustainable Approach to Business Management
The implementation of sustainable approach in business management has become a new theme of twenty first century (Slawinski and Bansal, 2015). The products launched by the companies and the projects acquired must be equipped with innovation to bring profit of the company. The product must help the community in social cause which means either company’s product give assistance in eradicating poverty or affordable to all class, or the share of profit earn is invested in social cause such as poverty, public health and child welfare. The last and most important is environment prospect. The product must be eco-friendly. It should either help in control environmental crisis or must not have any impact on environment. For example, the product must be recyclable. As suggested by Guyer et al. (2016), every company must have waste management program so that the waste formed during the manufacturing must not burden the planet.
3.1 Business Strategy
Changing of global market and constant pressure on the manufacturing industries and other industries to reduce the pollution has forced organisation to implement sustainable business strategies (Ghosal, 2015). Business organisations have developed the strategies according to their need to contribute towards the sustainable development. The best strategy of sustainability is through innovations. Sustainable innovations have proven to be critical in switching from regular consumption of resources contributing towards the carbon emission. As mentioned by Horng et al. (2017), organisation environment support the diffusion of innovation and act as an environmental marketing strategy.
For example, the blankets provide in economy class is made of 100 per cent recycling method. The threads of blankets are made from plastic bottles. These bottles are chipped, then formed into yarn and finally woven into blanket. As inferred by Amran et al. (2016), this prevents the plastics bottles to turn into waste and also save the cost of emission in generating new plastic material for manufacturing. They have reduced the unnecessary weight of the flight to save the fuel. They also have optimise the amount of water loaded in the flight by planning of passengers travelling distance and per litre consumption....
