What individual constraints could be involved in determining the developmental level of hopping?
1. Observe three people (try to include at least one child). Ask each person to hop on his or her preferred leg (i.e., whichever foot he or she naturally chooses). Assess each hopper’s developmental level using the observation plan provided in chapter 7.
2. Now, ask each person to hop on his or her opposite, or nonpreferred, leg. What happens to the person’s developmental level?
3. A difference of one developmental level often exists between the preferred leg and the nonpreferred leg, particularly in children. Generate a list of possible reasons to account for the difference.
