What if we conclude that the philosophical arguments for and against the existence of God are equally persuasive and cancel each other out? What do we do when reason leaves us indecisive? Don’t Pascal, James, and Kierkegaard have a point when they say that the neutral standpoint is impossible? Don’t we have to decide to live on the basis of belief in God or else live as practical atheists? If so, aren’t we justified in choosing the religious option if that option seems to make the most sense out of life?
