What does Williams mean by the title, “Are We Worried about Storm’s Identity—or Our Own?” Obviously, at this point in Storm’s life, the baby cannot appreciate what it means to be female or male or to be so labeled repeatedly. In what sense, then, does a concern with Storm’s identity provide evidence that we all have a great deal invested in “our boxes, our neat cabinets of thought” (paragraph 7) and that we are profoundly uncomfortable when we can’t fit people into them?
