rspace as we know it today is a vast inter connected network of computers that transcends the physical and logical boundaries of cities, states and countries as we generally now. In today’s time Internet is even accessible in Space. With an increase in inter-connection among countries, and increasing ease of use of Internet, the Cyberspace is also becoming a new battle field where the countries and terrorist organisations keep on trying to fight their battles and make the victim country pay a hefty price by loosing data of its citizens or shutting down of its critical services.
Since the Information technology boom of the late 1990s, many governmental and non-governmental services started getting online specially in the Developed countries and with it came the threat of data theft. With further adoption and ease of access to and globalisation, the Internet spread to more countries and even they started getting their businesses and services online. This led to further increase in threats and countries and organisation, both political and non-political, even started fighting wars on internet using offensive cyberwarfare techniques and tools.
It for this purpose that a relatively new field known as Cyber Defence is formed that looks after the security of cyberspace. The primary objective of cyber defence has been to protect the cyber space against any malicious activity being done on Internet or using the Internet. For this purpose, some detection and prevention tools and techniques were created. But it was soon found that those detection and prevention tools were inadequate since they could only be tested using known test cases and many times in real life scenarios those were ineffective as the threats and threat actors were constantly...
