Caltex is a petroleum company with its refineries present globally and was founded in the year 1936 by Chevron Corporation. It began its first operation in Australia in the year 1941. Since Caltex deals with petroleum products and refineries there are chances of environmental pollution as well as opportunities. In this case we will try to find the major environmental opportunities for Caltex.
1. Caltex must emphasize on reducing the oil spills from its refineries and be compliant with the environmental licenses. They must take initiatives to reduce the odour and noise pollution from their facilities. They must use water treatment for their Kurnell waste water treatment facility. Also, they need to have a regular check on the licensing policy of their refineries so that it can be renewed within the specified time limit.
2. Caltex must improve the energy efficiency and reduce the greenhouse gases by emphasizing on the installation of solar powered devices. This will help Caltex to reduce the consumption of power and save costs.
