If we take out any statistic and do an analysis, we get to see that more than half of the inmates in any prison happens to be of the younger age group. But in the past few decades the number of the elderly inmate population has been on the rise and their ages ranges from early fifties to older. These population presents a number of concerns for the correctional homes in terms of health care and provision, as well as mental, social and physical health and healthcare issues for the inmates themselves. Studies show that the hike has been quite significant and has gone to double digit percentage numbers of late.
