One of the most common types of construction forms today are concrete structures. Concrete structures are also known as concrete frame structures and rely on a basic skeleton or frame for support. Basically, they are an assortment of beams and columns. Beams are horizontal supports while columns form the vertical supports. Columns are the most crucial part of a concrete structure since they bear all the primary load of the building. Damage to columns can essentially shake the entire building (Ghali, Favre & Elbadry, 2014).
