We have suggested that both the Meyerowitz and the Sherman photographs could be described as abstracts, as we also suggested with Parmigianino’s The Madonna with the Long Neck (Figure 4-4) and Frankenthaler’s The Bay (Figure 4-6). These are complicated issues, especially with respect to photographs, for they seem to be inherently representational. What do you think?
