From its very invention till now the art of photography has remained an amalgamation of
amazement, diversification, and criticism. Developing first in Europe photography did spread
gradually to d
ifferent countries of the world and has been able to render astonishment,
usefulness, and controversies. And at the centre of the controversies remain the issue that
whether or not photography renders a truth that can be depended on or can be believed. Myriads
of arguments have been generated for and against the concept of the art of photography depicting
the truth. Most of the people who are in favor of photographic truth opine that as photographs are
taken through cameras and as cameras (being a mechanical instrument) remain seemingly
detached from subjective point of view, photographs are bound to render an objective and
unbiased truth. But the opposition to this view conveys that the truth of photography can no
longer be in existence as the advent of advanced digital technologies have paved the way for
distortion of photographs and manipulation of the same in accordance to the whim and desires of
the photographers or the editors. Hence, the discussion will try to provide a precise view on
whether or not we can still believe in photographic truth.
Photography was an art which was meant for projecting the truth of different situations,
circumstances, appearances, events, and so on. But with the advent of new technologies this the
truth value of photographs are gradually diminishing, and this is a truth. And with this truth there
is another truth which denotes that the documentary power of photography is also deteriorating
due to the different types of distortions and manipulations that have been made easy by the
emergence of the digital technology. As discussed earlier this century is a century of technology
and technological advancement in which we the human beings have learned to clone animal
species and to reproduce replicas. And amidst of such huge aspects of technological innovations,

the capability of forging pictures has become a negligible one. A little boy/girl who has got some
knowledge about some computer software related to photo editing can sit at home in front of the
computer screen and can distort or remake original images captured by digital photographs.
