As a way to fight against the isolation of the pandemic, Please do your best to watch it with at least one of your "home base" group members, better yet, the whole group, and add a sentence in your gut reaction about the experience. One of you can open a Zoom meeting and share your screen. Here's info on how to best share your screen if you haven't done it beforehttps://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/202954249-Optimizing-a-shared-video-clip-in-full-screen(Links to an external site.)
If this is a hardship for you to coordinate your schedules, please explain that in your gut reaction.
1.) Write a gut reaction. What was most surprising, shocking, maddening, upsetting or just extremely eye-opening?
2.) What were the origins of African slavery? What group was the first to enslave Africans and what was their motivation? Include the name of one of the locations of the slave trade. Upload a map that shows this region.
3.) Upload a link to a map of the United States southern states and locate Jamestown, Virginia (it is near Williamsburg); Charleston, South Carolina; St Agustine, Florida and New Orleans, Louisiana. If the map is not visible, describe where in the state each city is located.
4.) Why were African slaves in such high demand in the United States, for example in Jamestown, Virginia or Charleston, South Carolina? What were the cruel conditions or practices of the institution of slavery particular to the United States?
5.) Give at least one example of slave resistance. Be sure to write where it took place and what year and what actions slaves took and what was the outcome.
