Warehouse Management Case Study regarding reordering points, required forklift types, warehouse layouts, and shipping/receiving issues. There is a excel document with 4 tabs/sheets to be used, and a word document with instructions.

Agriculture Case Study Part 2 Determine the required space 1. On the “Reorder” worksheet, calculate how many pallets of each item will be needed. (Maximum divided by the Quantity/Pallet.) The “total pallets” amount will define how many spots will be required in your racking. Create a warehouse layout 1. Define the areas that will be used for Receiving incoming freight and Staging outbound freight by selecting the cells on the “Layout” worksheet and changing their fill colour. Label each area. 2. Design your rack plan on the “Layout” worksheet (Use borders and fill colour) taking the following into consideration: a. You can only stack 4 high b. The squares on your floor plan are 48 x 48 c. You need to have rack spots for all of the “total pallets” d. Your aisles need to be wide enough to facilitate the use of forklifts to stock pallets and pick orders. Decide which type of forklift you will use. i. Counter balance forklifts need two squares but can be utilized to load and unload trucks as well as stock racking. ii. Narrow Aisle forklifts need one square but cannot be used to load and unload trucks so you will require more equipment. e. Define areas on your “Layout” to store forklift fuel or to park electric forklifts to recharge. Conclusions Write a summary on the “Summary” worksheet explaining the following: · Was there enough space to store all of the pallets? · Could you rearrange your warehouse if you needed to store 25% more pallets? · Do you have any suggestions for how you could reduce travel time to make order picking more efficient? · Do you have any other suggestions about how this warehouse space can be utilized more efficiently without increasing pick/pack times?
