Reflection
Science is usually explained as the pursuit of knowledge as well as understanding of social world and natural followed with systematic methodology based on facts. With beautiful background and energetic speaker, I found the video about the documentary about Muslim scientists in the pre-modern period very interesting and intriguing. The Islamic perspective and culture produced successful and intellectual scientists. Medieval Islamic science had thorough implications and practical initiatives. For instance the astronomy was very popular in Islamic culture. In fact, in the video it showcased how science of stars and moons were useful in understanding Qibla in order to gauge the botany which had practical application in agriculture. Some honorable mention in this contributions are Al-Khwarizmi, Jamshid al-Kashi and Avicenna which made primary advancement in trigonometry, algebra and geometry as the Arabic numerals.
First and foremost, I learnt that Islamic value promotes that knowledge isn’t based on the reason alone but also on revelation as well as inspiration.
