Vapor pressure for n-hexane (C6 H14) and n-pentane (C7 H16) may be calculated from the Antoine’s equation:
log10P* = A – B / (T+oC)Where A, B, C are the constants as follows:For n-hexane: A = 7.0151, B = 1246.33, C = 232.988For n-heptane: A = 6.90253, B = 1267.818, C = 216. 823P* = vapor pressure in mm HgT = temperature in °C
1- Find the normal boiling point temperature, Tb, of n-hexane in °Ca) From standard data.b) From Antoine’s equation above
2- How many moles of n-heptane should be added to 1 mole of n-hexane to increase the normal boiling point (also called bubble point) of the solution to 80 °C. Assume Raoult’s law is applicable.
3- In question 2, find composition of the bubble in mole fractions.
