    The United States Government has created a number of programs in the 19th century. United States began to create more programs in the late 19th century. An example of this can be derived from the formation of the Interstate Commerce Commission formed in the year 1887. This commission targeted the railroads of The United States. This was created because of the court case of Wabash v. Illinois, according to which only the federal government has the right to regulate the interstate commerce. This right was not provided to the individual states. A number of literary writers have contributed to the enriched literature during the timeframe. Steven Crane wrote a book titled “Red Badge of Courage”, which brought life to the suffering of the poor. Another book titled “Maggie: A Girl of the Streets” helped to draw the attention of the government towards providing benefits to the impoverished women. Writer Jack London came up with a book titled “The Call of the Wild”. This helped to come up with more regulations about the natural sources. Another book titled “The Sea Wolf”, helped to come up with regulations to protect the animals particularly seals.
