Using the data presented in Problem 10.4, develop a fuzzy regression model where the dependent variable is total transportation cost and the explanatory variables are distance between shipment origin and destination and the number of intermodal transfers.

Problem 10.4

A class I rail company wants to determine the relationship between the total transportation costs of an intermodal container ($1000) and the explanatory variables: distance between shipment origin and destination (miles), number of intermodal transfer and shipment delivery time (days). The data for 10 different types of commodities are given in the following table.

(1) Write the multiple regression model, (2) estimate the value of the coefficient of determination (R2 ), and (iii) use the developed model to predict the transportation costs of an intermodal container that is transported 700 miles in 14 days with three intermodal transfers.
