Use Starry Night Enthusiast™ to observe the motion of the Galilean moons of Jupiter. Select Favourites
 Guides
Atlas from the menu. Click the Now button in the toolbar. Open the Find pane and double-click the entry for Jupiter. Use the Zoom buttons in the toolbar to change the field of view to about 30wide. Change the Time Flow Rate to 20 minutes (adjust as needed) and click the Play button to start time flow. You will see the four Galilean moons orbiting Jupiter. (a) Are all four moons ever on the same side of Jupiter? (b) Observe the moons passing in front of and behind Jupiter (zoom in and slow the Time Flow Rate as needed). Explain how your observations tell you that all four satellites orbit Jupiter in the same direction. You can examine these moons more closely by centering and zooming in on each moon in turn.
