Use Starry Night Enthusiast™ to observe the diurnal motion of the sky. a. Click the Home button in the toolbar and use the Hand Tool to center your field of view on the northern horizon (if you live in the northern hemisphere) or southern horizon (if you live in the southern hemisphere). Adjust the view so that the horizon appears approximately flat. Select View Hide Daylight from the menu. Set the Time Flow Rate to 3 minutes and click on the Run time forward button in the toolbar to start time flow. (Adjust the rate of the sky motion if it is too slow or fast to follow the general motion of the stars.) Do the stars appear to revolve clockwise or counterclockwise? Explain this in terms of the Earth’s rotation. Are any of the stars circumpolar? Explain why or why not. b. Click the Stop button in the toolbar to stop time flow and re-center your field of view on the southern horizon (if you live in the northern hemisphere) or the northern horizon (if you live in the southern hemisphere). Set the sky in motion again. Explain what you see. Are any of these stars circumpolar? Explain.
