Use Starry Night Enthusiast™ software to determine the Sun’s rotation rate. Select Favourites

Flares and Prominences from the menu. Note the locations of the features you see on the Sun so you can use them for reference as it rotates. Change the Time Flow Rate to 1 sidereal day and use the single step forward button () to observe the Sun’s rotation. Step through enough time steps to determine the rotation rate for the Sun. Compare the number of days for one rotation to the rotation information for the Sun presented in the text and state which part of the Sun the program’s rotation is portraying. (Note that the program does not show the Sun’s differential rotation.)
