A wet material from a process plant containing 100% (dry basis) moisture has to be dried to produce a product with 10% moisture. Heated air at 100°C and 10% relative humidity is being supplied to the drier and leaves at 60°C and a dew point of 52.5°C. Part of the outlet air is recirculated and mixed with ambient air at 30°C and 70% relative humidity. Neglecting heat losses due to radiation to the surroundings and preheating of the solid material and its receptacle, calculate the:(a) volume of ambient air in m3/min;(b) percentage of outlet air recirculated and mixed with ambient air when producing 500 kg/hr of product.
